Because many of our members were evacuated during the wildfires, we did not have our first MOPS meeting on Sept. 7th. So, this month, we were able to reschedule for the 3rd Wednesday, Sept. 21st. Here are the details...

First MOPS Meeting of the 2011-12 Year!!!

Hi, ladies! There have been some BIG changes to Bastrop County MOPS for this next year. First, our new charter church is Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, so we will be meeting there for our meetings, beginning Sept. 7th. CCUMC is located at 5630 FM 535 in Cedar Creek, across Hwy 21 from Cedar Creek Elementary. Also, at least for now, we will only be meeting ONCE per month, on the 1st Wednesday of every month. The time, however, 10am-12pm, will stay the same. And we will continue to have Playdates on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, as well as Mom's Night Out once a month.

Mom's Night Out--Dinner & "Bridesmaids"

Our next Mom's Night Out is on Sunday, May 15th. We will meet at Joleen's house at 4:45pm and then head into Austin, where we will eat at Logan's Roadhouse (located at 701 E. Stassney) and go see the 7:20pm showing of "Bridesmaids" at the Regal Metropolitan. If you want to carpool and need directions to Joleen's house, check your email or call Joleen at (512) 985-5455.

MOPS Playdate--Capital of Texas Zoo

We have a special treat in store for this MOPS meeting... Hugworks will be performing an interactive show for us and our kids! There will be no MOPPETS at this meeting, but it's going to be a blast!

Also, Tish Keng had her baby! Since she lives in Giddings, we won't be doing a Care Calender; instead, we are putting together a Care Package. If you'd like to contribute something to the Care Package (diapers, wipes, baby wash, shampoo, lotion, diaper cream, baby toys, snacks, etc.), please bring them to the meeting.

Mom's Night Out--Ramos Restaurant & The Lumberyard Music Hall

Change of plans!!! We're NOT having a game night & potluck. Instead, we're going to meet at 7pm for dinner at Ramos Restaurant (701 Chestnut) and then head over to the Lumberyard Music Hall (1109 Main) for some live music. The Possum Posse, a high-energy sardonic honky-tonk/bluegrass band, is performing. They will be slammin’ out memorable originals and mashed-up versions of cult-classics and girlie-pop favorites. Perfect for a fun and exciting mom's night out! Cover charge is $7. Please RSVP for dinner.

MOPS Playdate--Giggle N Jump

This month is weird, because we only have 1 MOPS meeting, but we have 3 playdates! Our next playdate is tomorrow, Wednesday, March 23rd, at 10am at Giggle N Jump. Giggle N Jump is located at 1102 College Street in Bastrop. Children age 1 and up are $5 each. Children under 1 and adults are free. You can bring your own snacks and drinks and stay until they close at 2pm. Don't forget to wear socks!

Community Service: Bastrop Pregnancy Resource Center

Our community service project this month is volunteering at the Bastrop Pregnancy Resource Center tomorrow, Feb. 1st at 10am. The Bastrop Pregnancy Resource Center is located at 1109 Church Street in Bastrop. We're going to help them sort through and organize their donated clothing. It's okay to bring your little ones, so don't let the fact that you can't find someone to watch your kids stop you from coming! Mom's Night Out--Dinner at the Roadhouse

Tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 22nd is our next Mom's Night Out. We're going to meet at the Roadhouse for dinner at 6:30pm. The Roadhouse is located at 2804 Hwy 21 E, near Bastrop State Park in Bastrop. I'm not sure what we'll decide to do after dinner... see a movie at Chestnut Square, play BINGO in Austin, or who knows what kind of trouble we might dream up! Isn't it fun to be spontaneous?

MOPS Playdate--Story Time & Sports Dawg's

Meet us at the Bastrop Public Library (1100 Church St.) on Wednesday, Jan. 12th at 10:30am for Preschool Story Time. Then, we'll head on over to Sports Dawg's (490 Hwy 71E, next to Schlotzky's) for lunch. They're going to have a children's director available to help the kids do some fun activities while we eat.

Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday. Our first meeting of this semester (and brand new year) will be on Jan. 5th, same time, same place. We'll be switching up the tables, and something else we'll be doing differently is that each meeting will feature either a speaker OR a craft but not both.
