Community Service Event-- "Bra Drive" at the Family Crisis Center
The mission of the Family Crisis Center is to be the expert resource and service provider in eliminating domestic and sexual violence in Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette and Lee Counties. The Family Crisis Center started in 1981 from a coalition of rural Texas women with a shared vision of offering hope, support, and assistance to women victimized by domestic violence.
Bastrop County MOPS believes the programs and services the Family Crisis Center provides are a vital resource in our community. Many of the women who need these services are mothers just like us. That’s why, on September 30th, we’re sponsoring a “bra drive” to support the women of the Family Crisis Center. (On every 5th Wednesday, Bastrop County MOPS holds a community service event.)
Please meet us at Calvary Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 30th, at 10:00am. Childcare will be provided by the MOPPETS program. We will have a light brunch and then carpool to the Family Crisis Center to drop off the bras and paint and "spruce up" one of the rooms.
Remember to bring NEW bras, gift cards, or cash. Used bras will not be accepted. Talk to your discussion group leader about shopping trips or pooling your money. Also, please wear appropriate "painting a room" clothing. :)

Is childcare provided?
Yes! During MOPS meetings, your children will be cared for in a nurturing environment through our MOPPETS program. We have a wonderful team of MOPPETS caregivers (former teachers, nurses, grandparents, etc.) who provide quality infant and toddler care. In the MOPPETS classrooms, the children play games, sing songs, listen to stories, create arts and crafts projects, and have a healthy snack.
When and where do you meet?
Bastrop County MOPS meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month from 10:00am until noon at Cedar Creek United Church, located at 5630 FM 535, in Cedar Creek, TX, across Hwy 21 from Cedar Creek Elementary.
What is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and is an international organization that exists to encourage, equip, and help women become the best moms that they can be! Women who are pregnant or have young children (birth through kindergarten) are all invited to join MOPS.
MOPS provides an opportunity to meet other moms and make the journey of motherhood together. We share our experiences, learn from one another, support each other, and laugh together. MOPS meetings are a wonderful place to build friendships and have fun with other moms. In other words, it's a playdate for moms!
At each of our meetings, moms enjoy a chance to socialize over brunch and a hot cup of coffee. A typical meeting includes an icebreaker or other fun activity, a creative craft project, a speaker or video on special topics related to motherhood, and discussion groups that allow you to get to know other moms more closely.
In addition to meetings, we have a monthly MOPS Night Out, playdates, MOPS & POPS events, and community service activities.
Childcare during all meetings is lovingly provided through the MOPPETS program. We provide a fun, nurturing environment for your kids to play and learn while you take a well-deserved break!
